Vandana at QMH this week :)

Hari OM all-
     I will be travelling to the keys this week to fight the never ending battle of seagrass vs boaters!  Part of my job is to restore seagrass communities where careless boater have run their boats aground in shallow banks of FL Bay.  So I will be dunking my head in 67 degree water assesing the overall progress of our restoration efforts.  This means I am unable to teach yoga this week :( 
     The superb and lovely Vandana of Awaken Yoga Center will taking over for me this week.  She is my mentor, my teacher and my friend.  Vandana was one of my greatest supporters of my pilgramage to India to receive my Yoga Teacher Training.  Please join Miss Vandana for a night of bliss this Tuesday February 1, 2011.  I wish I could be there to take her class too.  Send me some warm vibes!

A Rabbit and a Camel walked into a bar....

HA HA lets think of a punch line for that...

This week we will practice opening up through the chest and through the upper back to achieve a proper Camel pose (Ustrasana) and countering with Rabbit or Hare pose (shashaungasana).  I'm thinking the wild thing may be back too!  Hope to see you there!  As always there is kids yoga right before hand; Tuesday is fun for the whole family!  

This weeks mantra is:  LOKA SAMASTA SUKHINO BHAVANTU...May the entire universe be filled with peace and joy love and light...or may all beings everywhere be happy and be free.  Which of course includes YOU!

Hari OM yogis and yoginis-
     I cant believe 2011 is upon us!  Let us take some time to reflect on all of the wonderful happenings of 2010! Let us be grateful for all of the lessons we have learned, grateful for all of the wonderful people we know and grateful for what we have!  Let us take in the new year with a fresh and positive attitude, leaving behind things that do not serve us anymore (physically, mentally, emotionally). Let us welcome into our lives love and light and all things good! 


Following along with yoga sutra 1.33, practice these 4 Keys to unlock peace in your life:

Be Kind to those that are happy

Be Compassionate to those who are less fortunate

Have reverence for those who embody noble qualities

And practice Equanimity to those whose actions oppose your values
